This Seven Moons Fine Silver Pendant Necklace is a jewelry collage consisting of Seven Moons created with pure silver with different patterns, shapes and textures, and joined in together, along with a Dichroic Glass cabochon as the seventh moon.
The pendant measures 1-3/4 inches at its widest and is 3 inches long. It is enhanced with a double sterling silver chain and a Bali style sterling silver clasp, and weighs 41 gm of pure (.999) silver.
The pendant was created with .999 silver (which means 99.9% silver, as opposed to sterling silver, which is 92.5%), linked with sterling silver wire and finished with a patina to bring contrast and some color to the piece. A thin layer of Gold was added to one of the Moons, as a reminder that the Moon actually reflects the light of the Sun, just like the light of consciousness reflects on the mind.
Each of the Seven Moons has a different pattern and/or texture, one is actually a feminine face, and another one is a beautiful dichroic glass cabochon with shades of blue and silver. A very unique piece of wearable art!
This piece won the contest for the front cover of the 2010 Spring issue of the Art Clay Society Quarterly!
