Paisley Fine Silver Amethyst Earrings

$33.00

These gorgeous Paisley Fine Silver Amethyst Earrings will look fabulous on you! They have been handcrafted from pure (.999) silver, slightly oxidized to add contrast, and energized with dangling 6 mm faceted Amethyst beads and Garnet tassels. Hooks and wire are Sterling Silver.

The paisley design imprinted on each earring is reversed to create a similar look to that of a Yin Yang pair. SIlver circles measure 3/4 inch in diameter, and total length of earrings is 2-3/8 inches.

A paisley is a droplet-shaped vegetable motif of Indian and Persian origin, similar to half of the yin yang symbol. In Sanskrit, the paisley design is known as mankolam, which refers to its resemblance with a mango. Paisleys have sometimes been associated with Hinduism, as mangoes are usually offered in worship of certain deities who like sweet fruit.

The word paisley actually comes from a town in Scotland, where the design was first printed on textiles, once it had become very popular after the East India Company had brought to Europe paisley decorated items and textiles.
